The Property

Luxury Coastal Holiday Home Tremadog, Wales

This inspiring and historic holiday home on Wales’ West coast provides elegant accommodation for discerning guests. Relax in comfort and style, surrounded by almost 50 acres of wooded cliff side and beautiful coastal and country landscapes. Originally built in 1800, the house enjoys stunning views over the Glaslyn Estuary, and was once home to the poet Shelley (1812-13).

  • Style: Elegant country house
  • Bedrooms: Each of the six bedrooms has been individually designed to reflect the historic character of the house; yet they all boast the luxuries of modern creature comforts such as TVs, CD/DVD players and underfloor heating as well as stunning garden/estuary/mountain views.
  • For relaxation: All rooms have a television with a DVD player which also plays music, borrow music CDs or DVDs from the owners collection in the library. Daily newspapers as well as a comprehensive library mean that whatever the weather there’s plenty to amuse.
  • For recreation: The selection of board games at the property includes Welsh Monopoly, Scrabble and Cluedo.
  • Practicalities: There is a laundry room on the first floor of the property.

Food and Wine

  • DIY: If you opt to self-cater, then ensure that you make the most of the fantastic local produce for a true taste of Wales during your stay.
  • In-house cuisine: If you take the property on a catered basis, at mealtimes the best locally sourced ingredients are used, with an emphasis on good country cooking. A full Welsh Breakfast comes with free-range eggs and local bacon, and dinner comes in traditional ‘Welsh Country House’ style – featuring game, Saltings Lamb or local beef (vegetarian menus available). A small expertly chosen wine list boasts a selection of French, Spanish and New World vintages.

Getting there

  • By Car: The property is 245 miles from Marble Arch, which is around five hours by car
  • By Train: The nearest station is Porthmadog, which has an infrequent service from London, which is around one mile from the house and the owners are happy to collect guests. There are frequent trains to Bangor which is around one hour from the property and a taxi can be arranged which is around £45 each way.
  • By Air:The nearest airports are Liverpool or Manchester (both around 2hrs and 15 mins from the property)

Out and About

  • Portmeirion: The famous Itanliante village created by Clough Williams-Ellis whose Aunt lived at the property. Clough’s creation is eccentric and wonderful as well as being the setting for The Prisoner
  • Harlech, Caernerfon, Criccieth Castels: For history buffs the fantastic of North Wales are a real treat; set in magical landscapes for anyone interested in history or archaeology they are a must.
  • Beaches at Black Rock Sands, Harlech, Newborough, Abersoch: Huge, deserted beaches for wandering along in peace and solitude or for the more active, windsurfing or sandyachting
  • Walking and climbing in Snowdonia: From the peak of Snowdon – which can be climbed in four hours by the reasonably fit – to the Glyders with their magnificent scenery; no walker or climber need be bored in North Wales There are also established Mountain Biking trails.
  • Golf: Some of Britain’s best courses and certainly those with the best scenery can be found in North Wales including the world famous Royal St Davids at Harlech (around 30 mins away) and Morfa Nefyn (around 50 mins away).
